RCO 2006



This picture is of a section of an exterior load-bearing wall used on a one-story home. The dwelling was designed in accordance to the 2006 RCO, using a nominal design 3-second gust wind speed of 130 miles per hour for an Exposure C category. Given this information, which of the following would be a true statement?


Choose one of the answers below.

(A.)   Where joist, trusses or rafters are spaced 24" on center, and the bearing studs below are spaced 24" on center, the minimum stud size shall be 2-inch by 6-inch.
(B.)   Where joist, trusses or rafters are spaced 24" on center, the maximum spacing for the bearing studs below shall be 16" on center.
